To protect our staff and clients, Pennsylvania Innocence Project staff are currently working remotely on behalf of people who were wrongly convicted. Read about what we are doing here. For information on the coronavirus (COVID-19) visit the CDC website.

Updates and Upcoming

November 13th, 2019:
10th Anniversary Celebration
in Pittsburgh

The Pennsylvania Innocence Project opened in 2009 and has since exonerated 16 individuals, and has brought 4 additional folks home from prison to continue fighting their charges. In 2016, we opened our office location in Pittsburgh. We are celebrating our achievments, and the hard work of all involved in Pittsburgh on November 13th.

At the event we'll host special guest speaker Dr. Yusef Salaam. Dr. Salaam is a published poet, public speaker, and powerful advocate for criminal justice reform. He regularly speaks out against injustice by sharing his story and fighting for social change. He was one of the "Central Park Five" teens, now known as "The Exonerated Five," who were wrongly accused and convicted in 1989/1990 of a highly publicized rape in New York's Central Park.
